BTS Mourns Death of J. Scott McFadyen

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15).

On May 12, 2014, a dear partner in our ministry at Biblical Seminary went to be with our Lord. J. Scott McFadyen died of pneumonia after years of battling Parkinson’s disease.

Scott took the idea of stewardship seriously. He pursued excellence in his life and work. As a result, his family business—McFadyen Music—thrived. Scott and his wife Julia, whose father was Dr. G. Aiken Taylor (the second president of BTS), invested their resources in ministry and causes close to their hearts. BTS benefitted from their passion for seeing men and women prepared and sent out for ministry. Their scholarship assistance over the years has made many BTS students’ educations possible. Earlier this year, President-Emeritus Dr. David Dunbar and President Dr. Frank James spent an afternoon with Scott in his home. Frank recalls, “Scott was a man who clearly loved Jesus and His church. I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to spend that time with him and his beloved, Julia.”

While he is no longer physically present with us, his legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched. Please keep Scott’s wife Julia, their children and grandchildren in your prayers.
