Two New Faculty Books Now in Print….

Blessed Are the Balanced : A Seminarian's Guide to Following Jesus in the Academy (2013) by BTS’s Academic Dean, R. Todd Mangum and Paul E. Pettit of the Howard Hendricks Leadership Center in Dallas, Texas, explores the pivotal relationship between theological learning and meaningfully integrating that learning into daily living, in order to walk in spiritual fullness rather than detachment. In essence, this book challenges readers to exercise their theological scholarship through reflection and service, in order to achieve a harmony between academic learning and Kingdom living. It is a must-read for anyone contemplating or pursuing theological studies.

Derek Cooper, Assistant Professor of World Christian History, Director of LEAD MDiv, and Director of DMin, and Ed Cyzewski, a Biblical alum, co-authored the newly released book, Unfollowers: Unlikely Lessons on Faith from Those Who Doubted Jesus (2014). This book takes a fresh look at some of the overlooked personalities of the Gospels: Judas, the rich, young ruler, Herod, Pilate, Caiaphas, and more. Since, as BTS faculty colleague Dr. David Lamb puts it: "profound lessons often come from unexpected places be prepared to be encouraged and drawn closer to the Lord as you encounter these often ignored individuals in a new light".
