David G. Dunbar, PhD
President and Professor of Theology

In addition to his gift for teaching, Dr. Dunbar serves the seminary as its president. He is actively involved in ministry to local churches and played a leadership role for a church plant. Dave preaches at a variety of churches and is a popular conference speaker in the summer months.

Dr. Dunbar taught at Northeastern Bible College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School before coming to Biblical in 1986. He and his wife, Sharon, have two daughters and two sons. His oldest daughter and son-in-law are 2003 graduates of Biblical. Curriculum vitae.

John R. Franke, DPhil
Professor of Theology

Dr. Franke is particularly interested in engaging postmodern thought and culture from the perspective of Christian faith in order to explore the opportunities and challenges they present for the witness and ministry of the gospel. In addition to teaching at Biblical, he has lectured and taught on the relationships between theology, ministry, and postmodernity in the United States, Canada, England, and New Zealand and is actively involved in research and writing. In addition to publishing numerous articles and reviews, he is the coauthor of Beyond Foundationalism: Shaping Theology in a Postmodern Context and the author of The Character of Theology and Barth for Armchair Theologians.

John serves on the coordinating group for Emergent US and is a representative of Emergent US to the Faith and Order Commission of the National Council of Churches, as well as chair of the Evangelical Theology and Postmodernity study group of the Evangelical Theological Society and chair of the Evangelical Theology Group of the American Academy of Religion. He enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and following his favorite sports teams--the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, and Arsenal Football Club (English Premiership). Sherry L. Kull, PhD

Dr. Kull has been a part of Biblical's faculty and staff since 1988. She was an integral part of the leadership team that developed the curriculum and format for our cohort-based Master of Divinity programs. In addition to teaching in the LEAD MDiv program, she serves as its director. Sherry completed her PhD in Organizational Leadership in 2003 with her dissertation on the Ameliorating Effects of Transformational Leadership on Resistance to Change: Transformational Leadership and Conductivity for Schematic Conversion. Sherry has been recognized in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." She lives in Blooming Glen, PA.

Dr. Lamb has extensive teaching experience, including cross-cultural projects in Nigeria, Mexico, Kazakhstan, and Russia. His book, Righteous Jehu and his Evil Heirs ( Oxford: Oxford University Press) was published in November 2007. Daniel N. LaValla, MLIS

Dan has been Biblical's library director since January 2001 and has had a leading role in the renovation of Biblical's top floor, which houses the library, computer lab, IT offices, seminar room, and media center. Dan's experience prior to joining Biblical includes 16 years of counseling in various medical settings: one year of psych ER intake, five years as a social worker in trauma and emergency care at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, and 11 years as a brain injury therapist at MossRehab Hospital in Philadelphia. In addition to his involvement in caring and counseling ministries, Dan served on the leadership team for a local church plant, leads home Bible studies, and assists his wife, Beverly, teaching children's Sunday school. The LaVallas live in Upper Gwynedd and have two sons.

Samuel T. Logan, Jr., PhD
Professor of Church History

Dr. Logan is considered an authority on the life and writings of American theologian Jonathon Edwards (1703-1758) and has published numerous articles and reviews. He is an ordained minister and serves as executive secretary to The World Reformed Fellowship. From 1979 to 2007 Dr. Logan held various positions at Westminster Theological Seminary, including President and Chancellor. Dr. Logan and Susan, his wife, live in Glenside and have two grown sons, Sam and Eric.

R. Todd Mangum, PhD

Dr. Mangum is ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention and serves frequently as pulpit supply in several area churches; he also is an active member at Grace Bible Church, Souderton. A recipient of the John F. Walvoord Award for Outstanding Work in Eschatology from Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Mangum has presented numerous papers at the Evangelical Theological Society on a variety of topics including premillennialism, dispensationalism, covenant theology, and the need to repair breaches among various segments of Bible-believing Christianity. In March 2007 his book on the rise of progressive dispensationalism in American evangelicalism (The Dispensational-Covenantal Rift, Paternoster) was published. Scot McKnight, PhD

Scot McKnight is the author of more than 20 books and the Karl A. Olsson Professor in Religious Studies at North Park University in Chicago. Scot specializes in historical Jesus studies as well as the Gospels and the New Testament. He is frequently consulted by US News & World Report, Newsweek, Fox News, WGN, TIME magazine, and local media throughout the United States. His book, The Jesus Creed: Loving God, Loving Others, was awarded the 2005 Christianity Today Book Award in the Christian living category.

Philip G. Monroe, PsyD

Dr. Monroe is a licensed psychologist and practicing counselor at an area Christian counseling center. His primary passion lies in enabling the church to minister to hurting individuals and his focus is helping counselors build effective counseling skills and relationships so that lives may be transformed and give glory to God. Other interests include the area of ethics, racial reconciliation, and critical thinking skills. Michael D. Noel, DMin

Dr. Noel has over 28 years of experience with the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a local pastor and district and national administrator. Most recently he spent nine years as assistant vice president for church multiplication ministries for the CMA and national director of church planting initiatives. As executive director of C4ML (Catalyst for Missional Leadership) Dr, Noel will further C4ML's purpose of challenging, inspiring, coaching , and encouraging innovation within the Christian community in ways that lead to radical missional living. Richard Smith, PhD

Dr. Smith ministered in Prague with the International Institute for Christian Studies for several years, He taught a variety of subjects to non-Christians at the Anglo-American College such as: Comparative Religions, Intellectual History, The Bible as Literature, Ecclesiastes, and Business Ethics. He served as the Interim President for one year and continues to serve on the college Founders Board. He established the Komenský Institute of Prague, a non-profit educational foundation. His work experience includes investment sales, self-employment, and the establishment of a Christian day school.

Joseph Thomas, PhD

Dr. Thomas' expertise lies in the areas of Christian history, historical theology, Holiness-Pentecostalism, and interracial relations in American Christianity. The Christian History Institute, which he directs, promotes greater understanding of Christian history through publications, videos, and the Internet. Joe has been an adjunct professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, North Park University, and Carthage College. He enjoys biking, running, boogey boarding, and spending time with Audra, his wife, and their two children.

Charles H. Zimmerman, DMin

Dr. Charles Zimmerman is chairman of the department of practical theology. Charles' ability to make biblical principles clear, meaningful, and relevant accounts for his high demand as a conference speaker and lecturer. He brings experience and practical insights to the challenge of vision casting and team building.

A gifted communicator, Charles also serves as the teaching pastor at Calvary Church in Souderton, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Kim, have two daughters and reside in Hatfield.

Marks is a lead consultant for the Center for Ministry Advancement in Souderton, Pennsylvania.  He was a senior pastor for 25 years prior to coming to the center. He received a BRE at Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Clarks Summi,t PA in 1978, and a MS in Organizational Leadership at Philadelphia Biblical University in 2002.  Dave’s consulting experience includes ministry assessment, leadership coaching, and strategic planning.  In addition to consulting for Christian ministries, Dave has been an associate faculty member at Biblical since 2003.  Married to Elizabeth since 1977, they have raised their four children.  Favorite hobbies and interests include: riding his motorcycle, NASCAR racing, camping, and mountain climbing.

Dr. Schnittjer has been teaching part-time at Biblical Seminary since 1999, mostly in biblical studies. He is an active member of several academic societies devoted to biblical and theological studies, and he has received a half dozen academic awards. In addition to teaching at Biblical Seminary, Dr. Schnittjer is Professor of Biblical Studies at Philadelphia Biblical University.
