Prior to coming to Biblical, Manuel Ortiz taught for 23 years at Westminster Theological Seminary where he now holds emeritus standing as Professor Emeritus of Ministry and Urban Mission. He has also taught courses at numerous other schools including Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton Graduate School, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, the Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia, the Center for Urban Theological Studies, and City Seminary of New York. His focus is on training leadership for ministry in the urban centers of our world.
In addition to teaching, “Manny” is also the pastor of Spirit and Truth Fellowship church in North Philadelphia and is co-director of the CRC Philadelphia Church Planting Initiative having trained pastors and other leaders for seven church plants emerging from Spirit and Truth.
A Puerto Rican, Manny was born and raised in New York City and has spent his entire life living in the major U.S. urban centers of New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia. He and his wife Blanca have four children and ten grandchildren.
